Text: Matthew 8:16–17
16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Isaiah 53:5;
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
THE POWER TO HEAL AND RESTORE
Memory verse: Acts 10:38; How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
The gospel of Christ is not limited to forgiveness of sins; it also carries divine power to heal and restore every broken area of life. It is God’s complete package of redemption, saving the soul, healing the body, and renewing the mind. Wherever the gospel is believed, God’s power flows to make people whole again.
Acts 10:38 reveals this truth clearly: “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Jesus’ ministry was a visible expression of the gospel in motion. Every time He touched the sick, opened blind eyes, raised the dead, or forgave sinners, He showed what the power of the gospel looks like, restoration, renewal, and revival.
The gospel is like light breaking into a dark room. No matter how long the darkness has been there, it disappears instantly when light appears. When the gospel enters a person’s life, sickness, depression, guilt, and oppression lose their grip. The power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that quickens the body, revives the spirit, and heals the heart Romans 8:11.
The woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 is a perfect example. She had spent everything she owned, but one touch on Jesus’ garment, one moment of faith restored twelve years of pain. That is what the gospel still does today: it restores wasted years, broken bodies, and shattered emotions.
The gospel is not mere words; it is divine medicine. Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” When believed and declared, the gospel releases healing virtue into every situation.
No matter what you have lost, your peace, your health, your joy, or your sense of purpose the gospel can bring it back. The power that forgives is the same power that heals and restores.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 121 CALLED TO THE HIGHER MISSION By Apostle James Abache
- Jesus, You call us to leave all behind,
To follow Your voice and seek what we find.
From earthly pursuits to a purpose divine,
We lay down our lives to Your will, in Your time.
Refrain:
We’re called to the higher mission,
To reach the lost, to share the vision.
From the shores of earth to the heavens above,
We’ll Walk in Your purpose, in Your endless love.
- Like fishermen casting their nets on the sea,
We’re called to reach souls, to set them free.
Not for our glory, but for You alone,
We share Your salvation, Your mercy is shown.
- Through trials and struggles, we carry Your name,
Spreading Your gospel, unashamed of Your claim.
The world may reject, but Your light will shine,
In every dark place, Your love will align.
- With hearts full of faith, we go where You lead,
To serve and to give, to meet every need.
For the harvest is plenty, the workers are few,
We rise to the call, and we follow You.
- Our hands will serve, our voices will sing,
Declaring the glory of Christ, our King.
We will endure, we will never turn back,
For the mission You give us, we’ll stay on track.
- No matter the cost, we will faithfully go,
To tell of Your mercy, to make it known.
For in every heart, Your Spirit will dwell,
As we share the good news, Your love will compel.
- We’re called to the higher mission,
To reach the lost, to share the vision.
From the shores of earth to the heavens above,
We’ll walk in Your purpose, in Your endless love.
- Our hearts will burn with the fire of Your call,
To spread the Good News and answer Your call.
We’ll follow Your footsteps, with courage we’ll go,
To bring men to You, to make Your love known.
- Oh, lead us, O Savior, with Your guiding light,
We’ll follow Your mission, through day and through night.
To the higher purpose, we’ll always remain,
Forever proclaiming Your mercy and name.
