Bible Text: Luke 16:10
10 He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
Corinthians 4:2 “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
A farmer who plants a seed does not abandon the field because the harvest does not appear immediately. He waters it, removes weeds, protects it from danger, and continues working even when nobody applauds him. Faithfulness is like that farmer’s commitment. It is the willingness to remain devoted to God’s assignment despite delays, challenges, or lack of recognition. Many people desire the blessings of God, but fewer are willing to pay the price of consistency, patience, and loyalty.
Faithfulness requires sacrifice because it demands that we choose God’s ways above our feelings, convenience, and personal desires. Joseph remained faithful in slavery and imprisonment before entering his place of honour. David remained faithful while waiting years before becoming king. Jesus Himself remained faithful to the Father’s will even through suffering. True faithfulness is proven not when everything is easy, but when obedience becomes costly.
Faithfulness is a spiritual investment that produces eternal rewards. God does not only look at great achievements; He examines the heart that remains committed in small responsibilities. The price of faithfulness includes discipline, endurance, humility, and the willingness to continue serving even when recognition is absent.
Faithful people understand that their reward comes from God, not merely from human approval. A person who serves only when praised will eventually become discouraged, but one who serves because of his love for God will remain steadfast.
Faithfulness also protects our destiny. Many lose opportunities because they cannot be trusted with what God places in their hands. Before God enlarges our influence, He tests our consistency. The question is not only, “Can you do great things?” but also, “Can you remain faithful with what you already have?”
Action Plans
- Build a consistent relationship with God through prayer, Scripture, and worship.
- Honour every responsibility God gives you, knowing that small acts prepare you for greater ones.
- Let your motivation be pleasing God rather than receiving human recognition.
Covenant Gate Hymnals 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine ;
Now hear me while I pray ;
Take all my guilt away ;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire :
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be—–
A living fire.
While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide :
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
When ends life’s transient dream—-
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll—-
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
Oh, bear me safe above—-
Today’s Prayer
