The Price of Integrity

The Price of Integrity

Bible Text: Psalm 15:1-2

1 Yahweh, who shall dwell in your sanctuary?
Who shall live on your holy hill?

2 He who walks blamelessly does what is right,
and speaks truth in his heart;

Memory Verse

Proverbs 10:9 “He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.”

A building may look beautiful on the outside, but its true strength is determined by the quality of its foundation. If the foundation is weak, the structure will eventually collapse when pressure comes. Integrity is like that foundation. It is the strength of character that keeps you standing when nobody is watching. Integrity means being the same you in private and in public. It is choosing truth over convenience, righteousness over compromise, and obedience over personal gain. The price of integrity is the willingness to do what is right even when it is difficult, unpopular, or costly.

Joseph demonstrated integrity when he refused to compromise his values despite being in a vulnerable situation. Daniel maintained his devotion to God even when faced with pressure to abandon his convictions. Their integrity preserved their destiny and attracted God’s favour.

The price of integrity is refusing to exchange character for temporary benefits. Many people face moments when compromise appears easier than obedience, but integrity chooses the path that honours God. Integrity requires honesty in our words, actions, relationships, and responsibilities. It means keeping promises, handling resources faithfully, and treating people with fairness. God is not only concerned about our achievements; He is concerned about the character behind those achievements.

A person without integrity may gain temporary success but lose trust and respect. However, you who chose to walk with integrity builds a reputation that withstands challenges. Integrity creates confidence because people know they can depend on someone whose values remain consistent. Jesus Christ was the perfect example of integrity. His words, actions, and mission were completely aligned with the will of the Father. He remained truthful and faithful even when opposed by others.

Integrity is tested when there is pressure to compromise. It is easy to do right when everyone approves, but true character is revealed when doing right comes with a cost. God rewards those who remain faithful to His standards. The world may sometimes celebrate shortcuts, but God honours righteousness. Integrity protects our purpose, strengthens our witness, and positions us for lasting influence.

When we pay the price of integrity, we build a life that can carry God’s blessings without being destroyed by them.

Action Plans

  • Refuse dishonesty even when it appears beneficial.
  • Maintain godly character in private and in public.
  • Honour your words and responsibilities before God and people.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,

Stanza 1

My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine ;
Now hear me while I pray ;
Take all my guilt away ;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.

Stanza 2

May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire :
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be—–
A living fire.

Stanza 3

While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide :
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

Stanza 4

When ends life’s transient dream—-
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll—-
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
Oh, bear me safe above—-

Today’s Prayer

1. Lord build integrity in my heart and guide my actions daily.

2. Father give me strength to reject compromise and walk uprightly.
