Bible Text: James 1:4
4 Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
A farmer who plants a seed understands that a harvest cannot be forced overnight. He must wait through different seasons, continue caring for the field, and trust the process until the right time comes. If he digs up the seed every day to check its progress, he may destroy what is growing beneath the soil. Patience works the same way in our relationship with God. It is trusting His timing while remaining faithful in the process. Many people desire quick answers, immediate breakthroughs, and instant results, but God often uses waiting seasons to prepare our character, strengthen our faith, and align us with His purpose.
The price of patience is the willingness to wait without losing faith. It requires endurance when prayers seem unanswered, hope when circumstances are challenging, and confidence that God’s timing is always perfect. Abraham waited many years for the fulfilment of God’s promise. Joseph endured seasons of hardship before his destiny was revealed. David waited patiently before becoming king. Their waiting was not wasted; it was preparation for greater responsibility.
The price of patience is surrendering our timetable to God’s wisdom. Human nature often wants immediate solutions, but God sees the beginning and the end. He understands what must happen before we receive what He has promised. Patience does not mean doing nothing; it means continuing to trust and obey while waiting. A patient believer continues praying, serving, and believing even when results are not immediately visible.
Many times, God uses waiting periods to develop qualities that are necessary for future blessings. Anybody who receives a promise without preparation may not have the maturity to handle it. Patience builds character, humility, and spiritual strength. Jesus demonstrated patience throughout His earthly ministry. He endured rejection, opposition, and suffering while remaining committed to the Father’s will. His patience produced the greatest victory humanity has ever known.
Impatience can cause people to make wrong decisions, abandon God’s plan, or pursue shortcuts outside His will. But patience keeps us aligned with divine timing. When we pay the price of patience, we learn to trust God more deeply. We discover that delays are not always denials; sometimes they are divine preparation. God’s promises are worth waiting for because His timing produces the best results.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine ;
Now hear me while I pray ;
Take all my guilt away ;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire :
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be—–
A living fire.
While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide :
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
When ends life’s transient dream—-
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll—-
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
Oh, bear me safe above—-
Today’s Prayer
1. Lord teach me patience and help me trust Your perfect timing.
2. Father strengthen me during waiting seasons and renew my faith.
3. Lord give others patience to wait for Your promises with faith in Jesus name. Amen.
