THE SPIRIT OF A MAN AND LEADERSHIP

THE SPIRIT OF A MAN AND LEADERSHIP

Text: Numbers 27:16–18

16 And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.

17 But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem;  they are holy:  thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

18 And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.

THE SPIRIT OF A MAN AND LEADERSHIP

Memory Verse:        Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

A lighthouse on a rocky coast does not move, it does not shout but its light shines steady in the darkness, guiding ships to safety. That is what a man who is spiritually alive is like. He does not have to be loud or flashy. His life speaks through his quiet strength, his steady character, and the way he helps others just by being who he is.

Let us look at four basic principles of what real, spirit-led leadership looks like:

Vision, Like Special Glasses: A spiritually alive man sees with purpose. It is like wearing special glasses that let him see more than others. Where others see only problems, he sees a chance to help, to grow, or to build something good. Like a builder looking at a pile of bricks and imagining a house, he sees potential where others do not.

Moral Courage, like a Tree in a Storm: He stands firm when things get tough. Like a strong tree in the middle of a storm. Other things may fall or blow away, but the tree stays rooted. That’s moral courage, doing what is right even when it is hard, even when others walk away. He does not bend just to fit in or avoid trouble.

In Numbers 27:18, God said to Moses, appoint Joshua as the next leader, not because of his title, but because he had a strong spirit in him. That tells us something important: True leadership starts on the inside. You do not need a stage or a spotlight to lead. Just like the lighthouse, the compass, the tree, and the sun, a man who is led by God’s Spirit leads with quiet strength, steady character, and deep love. Ask yourself: are you leading from the inside out? What kind of light are you shining into the lives of those around me?

Covenant Gate Hymnals 97: ” GUIDE US, LORD, IN SERVICE TRUE”  By Apostle James Abache

1. Guide us, Lord, in service true,
As we lead and follow You,
In Your wisdom, we shall grow,
And Your love, we’ll always show.
With our hands, we’ll serve Your grace,
And in our hearts, Your love embrace,
For the church, Your work we’ll do,
In the strength You give anew.

Refrain:
Guide us, Lord, in every plan,
As we seek to follow Your command,
In leadership, we humbly stand,
Empowered by Your holy hand.
With wisdom, love, and unity,
We’ll serve Your church in harmony,
Guide us, Lord, in service true,
And lead us ever close to You.

2. In the tasks we’re called to bear,
Let us always seek Your care,
To shepherd hearts with gentle grace,
And lead with truth in every place.
May our words be filled with light,
Bringing hope and strength to fight,
For the kingdom’s work is near,
And in You, we have no fear.

3. As stewards of the gifts You give,
In Your truth, we long to live,
With each decision, prayer, and deed,
Let us follow Your true lead.
For the church is not our own,
But a place where You are shown,
Through each leader, every heart,
In Your love, we take our part.

Today’s Prayer
