Text: 2 Timothy 3:15–17
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
The Written Word of God (Primary & Supreme Channel of Communication)
Memory Verse: Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
The written Word of God, known as the Scripture, is the primary and supreme channel through which God communicates with His people. It is God-authorized, divinely inspired, and covenant-aligned. Scripture is not merely a historical or religious document; it is the living and authoritative voice of God preserved in written form. Because it originates from God Himself, it carries absolute authority over every spiritual experience, revelation, or communication.
This means the Bible is the highest standard of truth. Every other spiritual channel, whether dreams, visions, prophecies, inner impressions, or spiritual encounters must be tested and judged by the Scripture. God will never contradict His written Word. If any revelation opposes the Scripture, it cannot originate from God. The written Word serves as the final authority for truth, direction, and discernment.
This Scripture performs several essential functions. First, it establishes doctrine, providing the foundation of truth about God, His nature, and His will. Second, it brings correction, revealing errors and guiding believers back to the right path. Third, it provides discernment, helping you to distinguish between truth and deception. Finally, it gives confirmation, affirming God’s guidance and strengthening confidence in His direction.
The written Word of God is like a constitutional law in a nation. Just as every decision, policy, and authority must align with the constitution, every spiritual revelation must align with the Scripture. No opinion, experience, or authority can override the constitution. In the same way, the Scripture is the spiritual constitution that governs the truth and protect you from deception.
When you consistently study and apply God’s Word, your spiritual sensitivity and discernment increase. The Scripture becomes a reliable guide that provides stability, clarity, and protection in every season of life.
Action Plans:
- Study the Scripture daily to understand God’s truth and strengthen your spiritual discernment.
- Test every spiritual experience using the Bible as the final authority.
Apply God’s Word consistently in decisions and daily living.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 15; SS&S 607 I AM THINE, O LORD, I HAVE HEARD THY VOICE
| 1. I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee. |
| Refrain
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, |
| 2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the power of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, And my will be lost in Thine. |
| 3. O the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend! |
| 4. There are depths of love that I may not know Till I cross the narrow sea; There are heights of joy that I may not reach Till I rest in peace with Thee. |
